luv wave

Luv Wave is a three episode OVA at 27 minutes per episode released in 2000. It’s source material is a visual novel. More on that one when I find it.

Mikogami Kaoru a special agent gets as his new partner Alice – a cyborg, who travels around the world gathering new experiences and improving fighting skills. Together they have to solve mysteries of Nine Heavens – new, dangerous drug. They also have to find the source of Xinn – the computer virus, which once shut down international computer networks and it’s going to be activated again. Kaoru and Alice have to face not only the enemy but their own feelings and ghosts of their past.

The story starts out with an assailant that seem to have lost part of his memory and he gets an android as a new partner. They both get a mission to assassinate a guy that doesn’t seem to die just by eliminating the body and in doing so they find out about the drug called “Ninth Heaven”. Things happen on the way such as the android developing emotional feelings and his sister from the security police also getting involved. It just looks like a normal action thriller involving drugs but there seems to be more to it. Luv Wave is very Ghost In The Shell vibes here. Even the character design brings it to mind.

No DVDs that I found yet, so try the streaming service below. Unless you’re cool with an art book.
