Kuroinu: Kedakaki Seijo wa Hakudaku ni Somaru, or just Kuroinu, is a six episode OVA released in 2012. Each episode is 25 minutes long. It’s based on a visual novel of the same name published in 2010.
In the land of Eostia, humans and dark elves have fought for supremacy for over a century. The dark elves rule over a race of monsters that has raided human lands for generations. They capture and defile human women. Aided by powerful bands of mercenaries, the human kingdoms have gradually pushed back their old rivals.
But the mercenaries would not settle for these victories. Led by the cruel general Volt, the sellswords declare independence. With the support of the savage orcs, their new nation attacks human and dark elf alike. Carving out a kingdom where men reign supreme and women are little more than slaves. Even the dark elves’ castle is conquered and their queen taken prisoner.
The sole hope for peace in these lands rests with a fellowship of seven princess knights. Hand picked by the goddess of the high elves. But is their power enough to cleanse the evil from their world?
The gist is of the story is, men invade the country and enslave ALL the women. Making them sex slaves for the rest of their lives.
Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to, I don’t know, recruit the women warriors to their side and actually fight for them? Wouldn’t it make sense for their leader, Volt, to plan for the important female characters to be his personal child-bearers instead of passing them around to all his men?
Instead, we just get gang rape scenes with the extremely tired old tropes of: Evil/Cruel grinning male rapist, sexual vocals that only come from female characters, and the CLASSIC “rape the unwilling until they enjoy it.” It feels like a early-2000s relic with 2010s animation quality. Also, I’m not understanding the stylistic “whipped cream semen” that I’ve been seeing in hentai OVAs lately.
Not really feeling it very much. And not only that, but we get some kind of emotional angle from the different female characters that essentially has no payoff because, as it stands now, there is no comeuppance for them. Six entire episodes of rape that probably could’ve been condensed to two. I don’t even see a point of episodes 5 & 6 even existing because they just start treading water.
The first episode of Kuroinu was promising, and then they dropped the ball. Uninteresting male characterization, no real sense of motivation for their actions, no real tension or conflict, no actual point to the sex scenes — it just feels like a pointless affair overall.
